About CELOP
Established at Boston University in 1975, CELOP—the Center for English Language and Orientation Programs—is a proud member of the University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP). This organization and its members are dedicated to promoting and upholding the highest professional standards to ensure that students receive the most advanced methods of intensive English instruction from trained, professional instructors. CELOP is also fully accredited by The Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and proudly upholds the high standards of this organization. Since 1996, we have devoted ourselves to our mission statement.
CELOP students can be sure that they are getting the highest quality English instruction available. All of our teachers are Boston University faculty, all have graduate degrees and all have many years of experience teaching English to international students. In fact, many of CELOP’s teachers are internationally recognized as textbook authors and conference speakers.
What’s more, our students benefit from the relationships CELOP maintains with other schools and departments at Boston University. Advanced-level CELOP students may attend courses at the University, and also receive special consideration when applying to diploma and certificate programs at BU Global.
But perhaps it is best for you to read what our past students have to say about their experience at CELOP:
CELOP was good for me because it is a serious school – you can learn English very quickly here and you won’t waste your time.
—Marianna Ortega, VenezuelaEverybody at CELOP is nice and open to everybody, which gives you the courage to speak – even with mistakes – so you just speak and speak and so you learn! It’s a great atmosphere. I also made a lot of friends and discovered many foreign cultures.
—Amina Cherif, Ivory CoastI really like the personal attention you get from the teachers and staff at CELOP. When I was having a hard time filling out my application for law school, the Academic Advisor really helped me and answered all my questions. Now I am looking forward to attending Harvard Law School in the fall.
—Augusto Mantilla-Serrano, ColombiaCELOP’s multimedia lab gave me access to the Internet and e-mail so I could keep in touch with my job back home. I even learned some new computer skills.
